Learning Outside of the Classroom – Trips, Visits and Immersive Experiences

Birmingham University Humanities Quiz

WBCA came second in a Humanities Quiz hosted by Birmingham University. Technically, it went to a tie breaker and we were pipped at the post! Congratulations to all students involved, the University were very positive about student behaviour and participation. Additionally, each student received a free book on behalf of the National Literacy Trust. We were even gifted some spares for the library! A fantastic day for all involved.

year 7 visit holy trinity church

On Tuesday 23rd January, Year 7 visited Holy Trinity Church to learn more about Places of Worship. Year 7 have started the ‘Journeys’ theme which includes learning about the religious journeys (pilgrimages) that take place in different religions. We did our own ‘journey’ as we walked to Holy Trinity Church and battled the difficult weather conditions!

We were welcomed at the church by Reverend Neil Robbie and his team of volunteers. Students had an opportunity to ask questions, look around the church and were shown what happens in a typical Sunday Service.

Students were particularly impressed by the beautiful stained glass windows which showed images from the Bible, such as ‘The Good Samaritan’.

year 10 geography field trip

On Tuesday last week, some of the Year 10 Geography students took part in their first field trip. They visited the local area to investigate how regeneration has impacted upon West Bromwich. They were fantastic with the data collection and then successfully applied their newly developed skills when back in the classroom. Well Done 10D!
