Revision and Preparing for Exams

Year 11 Summer exam and revision timetable

Structured Revision Programme

During the examination period, there will be no period of study leave for students. There is an in-school based structured revision programme for them to follow. After analysing results from last year, we strongly believe that the best place for students to revise is in the classroom with their teachers.

The programme can be downloaded here or seen beow.

Morning Revision Sessions

These begin at 8am and are open to all students sitting the exam scheduled for that morning. They will contain vital last-minute tips and refreshers and can make all the difference for those final few marks to achieve a higher grade.

Period 3 Revision Sessions

These sessions are for students who are sitting the afternoon exam that day.

Afterschool Revision Sessions

The after-school revision sessions have been changed to coincide with the examination timetable.

Library

If students would like a quiet space in school to revise, then the Academy Library is open to them after school each day from 3:25 – 4:25pm.

Brain Break –  Friday 22nd May

The exams season is a challenging time for students, so we want to provide them with some time and space together before half term.

Half Term Revision Sessions

There will be a series of revision sessions which will run over half-term between Tuesday 26th May and Friday 29th May.  Some half-term revision sessions will be open to all students, whereas others may be by invitation only.

After Half Term

After half-term the revised timetable continues. You will see that on both Thursday 11th June and Friday 12th June, students will sit their a.m. examinations and then attend a Science revision session during period three. They will then be dismissed from school at 12:40pm on both days.

The End of Exams and Celebrations

The final examination for the vast majority of students takes place on Monday 15th June. This examination will be followed by a Leavers’ Celebration, including an assembly and the opportunity for students to get their shirts signed. If students do wish to have their shirts signed, then they need to bring this shirt with them, as they are not permitted to wear these in the examination hall. Students will then be dismissed from the Academy at 12:30pm. After this date students will not be required to be in school unless they have a further examination.

Contingency Day – Wednesday 24th June 2026

All students must be available until at least 24th June. If any exams have to be cancelled for any reason, they are rescheduled on the Contingency Day.

You must not go away or book holidays until after this date.

Attendance to Exams

Attendance and punctuality to all examinations is very important. Students must make sure that they are in school by 8:40 am each day (if they are not attending a morning revision session, beginning at 8:00am).

Morning (a.m.) examinations begin at 9:00am and afternoon (p.m) examinations at 1:30pm.

Please be aware that if students do not attend their examination, that parents / families can be charged. Examination fees are available on the Academy website.

On occasion where an afternoon examination finishes after 2:30pm, and where students are not required to attend an after-school revision session, we may dismiss them from school slightly early, and they will sign out from Reception.

Weekly Independent Revision Programmes

Revision strategies and support

We know that for students, starting a revision programme is often the hardest part. Knowing where to start and what to focus on can be quite daunting.

We have a number of tools available to support students with their independent study.

Dr Frost – Maths

Sparx – Maths

Century – several subjects

SENECA – several subjects

SUPPORT FOR PARENTS AND CARERS

Here you can access a copy of the information shared with Year 11 Parents and Carers at the start of term.

Year 11 Mock Results Day

On Thursday 18th December we held a Mock Exam Results Day for Year 11. Students received a statement of their mock exam results, to mimic the real results day in August 2026.

Exam results are also available on Arbor.
