Year 9 and 10 students visited Wednesbury Library for the Careers with Words event, organised by Writing West Midlands.

The event aimed to empower and educate aspiring individuals looking to pursue careers in the literary and publishing field, equipping them with the tools and insights to help navigate the ever-evolving career landscape.

A hub of creativity and inspiration, Careers with Words provided our students with the unique opportunity to explore their prospects and engage with working professionals currently in the field. Our students showed wonderful engagement and interest at the event, even posing their own questions and thoughts to the panel experts.

Industry experts included published authors and poets, editors, publishers, content creators, a bookshop owner and librarian. Each shared their first-hand insights, advice and guidance on the current career opportunities and pathways available to students.

As a school, we are deeply committed to nurturing and supporting our students’ passions and interests. Events like Careers with Words enable us to provide engaging and valuable learning opportunities that help guide our students towards their chosen paths and career destinations. By empowering them to explore, discover and develop their talents, we ensure they can make informed choices and set a solid foundation for their futures.

The insights and experiences shared at the event have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our students, fuelling their aspirations and interests as they look ahead to thinking about and planning their potential careers with enthusiasm.
