Students and staff at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy came together for a vibrant celebration of diversity, marking the school’s second annual Culture Day.

The highlight of the day was a striking cultural parade around the school’s football pitch, with students proudly wearing traditional dress to represent the many backgrounds and heritages that make up the Academy’s diverse community. The colourful procession was a powerful display of pride and unity, drawing enthusiastic support from across the school.

The day followed a week of culture-themed activities, including international food tastings, music, games and competitions. These events gave students the chance to explore and experience a wide range of cultural traditions and practices first-hand.

Following a week of cultural themed activities that explored global cultures through food, music, games and competitions leading up to the big day gave students the opportunity to experience different cultural traditions and practices first hand.

In addition to celebrating cultural heritage, the day also had a charitable focus. Through a variety of fundraising efforts, the school raised an impressive £530 for Save the Children, reflecting the values of compassion and generosity that are promoted at the Academy.

Mary Henderson, Associate Principal at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy, said: “Culture Day is a true reflection of who we are as a school – diverse, inclusive, and proud. Watching our students come together to celebrate their heritage was deeply moving and was a wonderful and powerful expression of identity, respect and community.

“What made the day even more special was the way our Academy came together not only to share and celebrate our cultures, but also to give back. Raising over £500 for Save the Children truly demonstrated the strength of our values in action.”

With the event growing in both scale and spirit each year, West Bromwich Collegiate Academy looks forward to making future Culture Days even more impactful, continuing its commitment to celebrating the many cultures that enrich its school community.
