Work Experience

year 10 Work Experience

Our aim is for all of our Year 10 students to complete a meaningful Work Experience Placement during their summer term at WBCA.  Students will be aged 14 or 15.

This academic year, Work Experience Week takes place between 29th June – 3rd July 2026.

If you are an employer and you would like to offer a Work Experience Placement to one or more of our students, please get in touch – we would be delighted to hear from you. The main requirement is that you have employer liability insurance and that the member of staff supervising the student has DBS.

Contact: careers@wbca.shirelandcat.net

Year 10 students, need to be thinking about where you would like to complete your work experience placement and start to make enquires NOW.

The first deadline for securing placements will be 23rd February 2025.

It is never too early for younger students to also be thinking about work experience.

Thinking About Returning for Work Experience?

If you’re a former student considering coming back to WBCA for a work experience placement, please see the key information below:

  • You’ll need to arrange this at least 4 weeks in advance.
  • You must email Mr. Smith, who oversees all work experience placements.
  • Include in your email: your full name, the dates you’re hoping to attend, your areas of interest and what you hope to gain from the placement.
  • Mr. Smith will confirm availability and next steps.

Email Mr. Smith at: msmith@wbca.shirelandcat.net

If you are a student at another school or an adult hoping to gain work experience in a school setting, you should also follow the same steps. Depending on age, DBS checks may have to be carried out as part of our safeguarding processes.
