In an impressive display of talent and innovation, year 8 students Tanaya, Winni, Callan and Shibana have made it to the Apps for Good 2023 Showcase Finals!

This marks another year of success on the programme following our students’ winning both the ‘Community Champions’ and ‘Judges Favourite’ in 2022 with A-Z Safety, which aimed to help victims and those at risk of domestic abuse by providing a safe, discreet way of calling for help.

This marks another year of success on the programme. In 2022, our students won both the ‘Community Champions’ and ‘Judges Favourite’ category with A-Z Safety, designed to help victims and those at risk of domestic abuse by offering a secure, discreet method of seeking help.

Their innovative app, aptly named ‘Never Forget’, was designed and created by the students in support of caregivers and patients experiencing Alzheimer’s, dementia and mental health difficulties.

Leveraging artificial intelligence, including professional online resources and links, the app aims to provide much-needed advice and support for users, helping them to navigate the challenges that conditions such as Alzheimer’s brings to individuals and their families.

One notable feature of ‘Never Forget’ is the ability to connect with others facing similar circumstances via an online community, creating an invaluable support network for caregivers. It also provides a chat function using an AI service designed to signpost users towards the most relevant professional support, helping to address the emotional and practical needs of its users.

Our students’ vision was to help bridge the gap in finding the right level of support and guidance for individuals who, based on research, face difficulties in staying updated with information and accessing necessary resources. This challenge often leads to additional stress for caregivers.

According to Alzheimer’s Research UK, 994,000 people are estimated to be living with dementia in the UK, highlighting the need for innovative support solutions like ‘Never Forget’.

You can help show your support for our students by voting for ‘Never Forget’ on the Apps for Good website under the People’s Choice Award. The winners will be announced in Thursday 15th June, including the Judge’s Favourite, so make sure to cast your vote today and rally behind our talented students!
