Though it was a short one, the half term has been over in a flash. After half term we will be in the final stretch to opening. In fact, Sunday at Midnight we will be at 100 days exactly.

This starts with Ofsted, who are coming to see us next Tuesday for our pre-opening inspection and to see our building. It will be good to pass that milestone and have the confidence of their approval. It will be a busy start to the week as we are also interviewing for our site management post.

Today we appointed our receptionist and office manager positions, it was a strong field with over 67 applications so well done to the successful candidates. Earlier in the week we appointed our PE and Art and Design position, again they are fantastic staff from really high quality and competitive fields of candidates. More and more of our key staff are now appointed, ready to begin in August to have the Academy ready for September.

Away from recruitment I met with our Hippodrome contact today who will be concentrating on setting up a Tuesday after school drama club, confidence building workshops, icebreaking activities for students looking to make friends and helping to get the students involved in running our social media. We also talked about leading up to a show at Christmas, Arts Award and opportunities to visit and even perform at the Hippodrome in the future.

Thursday morning was spent on site and you can find more about this in our latest buildings update. It is great to see so much of what we have planned becoming a reality.

Finally thank you to all of you who joined us for the Facebook live session, it is always good to try out new types of communication with you. If you have more questions, keep asking but we will try and do another one before the induction day on July 4th.

I wish you all a restful half term.
