As we approach the last week of term and with 54 days to go until opening, the team here are taking stock of our final tasks before the Academy opens.

Today we have been at the Sandwell Transition Fayre where our primary schools have been sharing some the excellent ‘About Me’ work with us. There is some really fantastic work and it has been great to see students identifying their talents. We will be passing these to students’ form tutors before the students start so they have a chance to learn more about each one of them.

We have been putting together some changes to our website based on the questions we have had on the induction day. One of these changes is some feedback about meals. A full main meal will be £2.40 and this is also the level we will credit students who have Free School Meals each day. Our chef is preparing a sample menu for the website with a price for individual items at both lunch and breaktime. We will also put up some examples of acceptable shoes.

The building remains on track. This week we have ordered a few additions such as blinds, brackets for the in classroom displays, bag storage and outside seating. We also have a delivery and installation programme for all the furniture to go into the building. I will be visiting on Tuesday for a last visit before the end of term. We will still be doing regular updates throughout the summer holidays.

We are starting a programme of primary visits both now and in September for students interested in a place in September 2020. We will be at Lyng Primary on Monday 15th July and Eaton Valley on Thursday 18th July. If you are interested in a place, you can also request one of our 2020 prospectuses by contacting the Academy.

Finally we would highlight that our open day for 2020 students will be on September 18th 2019.

I wish you all a great weekend and final week of term.
