Four weeks in and the Academy continues to go from strength to strength. This week has seen our students make us proud and launched some new aspects of Academy life.

Students are excited with the announcement of our first whole Academy Trip. This will be to the National Space Centre in Leicester to launch our second theme of the year, ‘Planets’. We hope every student in the Academy will join us on the trip.

Wednesday saw us launch our Clubs and Societies, we had Football, Rock Band, Science, Art, History, Homework and Games Club as well as many more. Because of the huge demand we have had to split some clubs into week A and week B to give all our students the opportunity to attend. I would mention that if students want to attend a different club with spaces on the week they are not on such as Homework Club or Games Club they are more than welcome to do so.

Wednesday also saw the launch of our Theatre School following auditions on the Monday and congratulations to all those who were successful and those who tried out and will now join our development group, the standard was extremely high. We have already had a cast member from the Hippodrome come to work with our students and next week they will be visiting the Hippodrome for a back stage tour and performance of Blood Brothers.

On Friday the Academy came together to raise funds for our Macmillan Coffee Morning and they did the Academy proud with a spectacular spread of cakes and biscuits prepared by our students and a series of competitions and activities to raise money. We raised around £350 for charity with Florence House raising the most funds by just £2. Special congratulations to all our winners of individual categories and to all the students who worked really hard on the day.

Next week we start the remainder of our clubs, we will also be sending information out to you about our Settling In Evening on the 10th October and more information about how parents can get involved with the Academy.

I wish you all a good weekend.

Kind regards

George Faux
